Eligibility for Google News
Publishers no longer need to submit their site to be eligible for the Google News app and website. Publishers are automatically considered for Top stories or the News tab of Search. They just need to produce high-quality content and comply with Google News content policies.
News content can be submitted a few ways. You can submit content through Accelerated Mobile Pages commonly referred to as AMP, or you can use the method of importing feeds for different subjects and categories of news. News can also be submitted by URL’s, videos, and any type of feed with ease.

Start off by going to Google News Publisher
Click Add Publication and get started!
Enter your Publication name as you would like it to appear in Google News.
The next section will ask you to fill out a variety of preliminary information to be included in Google News and to select monetization options
The basic information section will require you to enter language/s, categories of news and description. There is also a great feature that allows automatic translation. into other languages.
Website Property URL
Enter your website URL. Example: https://apsguide.com
After verifying your primary language and website via Google Search Console, you can enter a location.
Enter any contacts such as publishers, writers, editors, agencies or owners that will be associated with the account
You can distribute your News Feed worldwide or you can add or restrict specific countries
Enter your Google Analytics code that you use for your website
Google News Publisher Activation
After setting up this initial information we will complete the account setup with 5 additional sections
- Content – Identify what kind of content you will be providing to Google News. If providing RSS feeds you will need to provide a minimum of 4 categories for the account to be approved. All of these feeds must be generating content to be approved as well.
Images – Add any company logos that represents your brand
Ads – Google News Publish requires that you provide a square logo and a light and dark themed rectangle based on background being served to users. Specs for Google News ads
Advanced – The advanced section allows to create different access groups to different categories of content. If you were a typical newspaper you could give the real estate staff access to this section, while the editorial team has access to their specific section.
Review and Publish – You are ready to get your Google News site published if you have made it to this step. Once you have all feeds verified and they are all serving stories you can hopefully get verified.
